Psychology Professional, Counsellor, Wellbeing Practitioner, and Coach

Sucheta holds an MSc in Psychology from the United Kingdom, is a Graduate Basis for Chartered Membership (GBC) with the British Psychological Society (BPS), and has a Level 3 Certificate in Counselling Studies from Counselling and Psychotherapy Central Awarding Body (CPCAB). She has supported individuals in diverse settings, including mental health, student wellbeing, learning disability support, educational environments, sexual and reproductive health, and holistic wellbeing in both the UK and India. Sucheta is inspired by the resilience of individuals overcoming life’s challenges, and her passion for helping others comes from a genuine belief that everyone deserves to feel heard, understood, and empowered to thrive.

Sucheta works with adolescents, young adults, families, couples, and adults experiencing mild to moderate mental health and emotional difficulties.

Seeking support is a courageous step towards wellbeing. Life's challenges touch every aspect of how we think, feel, and connect with others. Through counselling, you enter a safe, confidential, and non-judgemental space where you can truly explore your experiences. Here, you’ll build self-awareness, foster personal growth, strengthen emotional resilience, and discover healthier ways of coping with life's demands.

Work Experience in India

Sucheta has extensive experience in counselling, clinical psychology, sexual and reproductive health counselling, and educational counselling in India. She primarily supports young people, students, and adults facing academic pressures, anxiety, depression, relationship issues, sexual and reproductive health concerns, trauma, and emotional difficulties. During her clinical placement at the Centre for Mental Health Institute in India, she gained skills in psychological assessment, psychometric testing, clinical observation, case formulation, and therapeutic support. Her work with the Family Planning Association, India, expanded her expertise in Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR), where she provided trauma-informed care to survivors of abuse, HIV/AIDS counselling, family planning guidance, MTP-related emotional support, relationship counselling, and support for those experiencing gender-based violence. As an Educational Counsellor at Shahu College and Dignitary Defence Academy, she assisted students with academic stress, exam pressure, time management, bullying, bereavement, anger management, relationship challenges, anxiety, depression, executive functioning difficulties, inattention issues, low self-confidence, and career planning. She also helped students develop emotional regulation, communication skills, self-esteem, focus, memory strategies, and study efficiency. Her collaborative work with students, families, adults, and teachers has strengthened her abilities in individual and group counselling, psychoeducation, early identification of barriers, support planning, and resilience-building.

Work Experience in the UK

Sucheta’s professional journey in the United Kingdom includes supporting individuals with learning disabilities and various co-occurring mental health, emotional, behavioural, neurodevelopmental, and communication challenges during her time with Mencap Company. She has supported people with generalised anxiety disorder, chronic depression, schizophrenia-spectrum conditions, delusional symptoms, bipolar disorder, autism spectrum disorder, emotional dysregulation, irritability, and communication difficulties. Her approach focuses on supporting emotional regulation, observing changes in mood, behaviour, and social interaction, and collaborating within multidisciplinary teams. At Mencap, she regularly worked alongside psychologists, occupational therapists, social workers, and family members to develop and implement consistent care plans. When a client needed specialised support beyond her scope, she coordinated with team members to facilitate referrals to appropriate mental health services, ensuring the client’s needs were supported throughout. Sucheta is skilled at identifying emotional and behavioural triggers, recognising signs of distress, adapting communication strategies, and providing person-centred psychological support in a calm, structured manner. These experiences shape her therapeutic approach today.

Work Experience in Singapore

Before starting her career in psychology and counselling, Sucheta spent nearly nine years with Singapore Airlines. Working in a fast-paced, multicultural, and high-responsibility environment refined her empathetic listening, cultural sensitivity, calmness under pressure, compassion, and ability to form genuine human connections. These strengths now enhance her counselling work, allowing her to build deep rapport with clients from all backgrounds, create a safe and understanding space, and remain steady and focused even in moments of crisis. Clients benefit from her ability to truly listen, respond with empathy, and adapt flexibly to their unique needs.

Therapeutic Approach

Sucheta believes every individual is unique and that meaningful counselling begins with understanding the whole person, not just the presenting concern. Her counselling style is person-centred, trauma-informed, and culturally sensitive, focusing on each individual’s life experiences, thinking and behavioural patterns, environment, strengths, vulnerabilities, and values. She draws on evidence-based therapeutic approaches, including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Person-Centred Therapy (PCT), Psychodynamic Therapy, Mindfulness-Based Interventions (MBSR, MBCT, MBRP), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), and attachment theories. These frameworks allow her to tailor support to each client’s needs and preferences, offering practical coping tools and personalised strategies for growth. Therapeutic approaches and methods are always discussed and agreed upon with clients to ensure they feel involved and empowered in their care. For example, when working with a university student from a different cultural background struggling with academic pressure and homesickness, Sucheta blends practical coping strategies with culturally sensitive approaches that honour the client's unique values and family expectations. For another client facing trauma, she adjusts her pace, uses grounding techniques, and incorporates trauma-informed tools to ensure a safe and supportive environment. She views counselling as a collaborative process that creates a supportive space for reflection, self-discovery, and growth, where clients are empowered to gain clarity, build resilience, and move towards meaningful, lasting change.

Session Information

In sessions with Sucheta, clients can expect a warm, supportive environment that encourages open communication at their own pace. Sessions are available online or in person for flexibility. Each appointment lasts 50 minutes. Fees are per session, with details and any concessions available upon enquiry. Appointments can be booked directly via phone, email, or the online platform. Sessions typically begin with a check-in, followed by exploration of current concerns in a non-judgmental space. Collaborative goal-setting and practical strategies are introduced to empower clients and support positive change. Clients often describe sessions as insightful and reassuring, leaving with a sense of being heard and equipped with new perspectives or coping tools. Over time, clients may experience increased self-awareness, clarity, and confidence as they work toward growth.

Confidentiality and Privacy

Your privacy is very important. Everything you share in counselling sessions is kept confidential and handled in accordance with professional and ethical standards. However, there are some situations where information may need to be shared to help keep people safe. This may happen if there is a serious risk of harm to you or someone else, if a child or vulnerable adult may be at risk of abuse or neglect, or if disclosure is required by law, such as a court order or concerns about serious criminal activity. Whenever possible, Sucheta will discuss this with you before sharing any information, unless urgent action is needed to protect someone's safety. These limits to confidentiality are explained clearly at the beginning of counselling so that you feel informed, reassured, and confident about your privacy.

Who Sucheta Works With

Sucheta works with adolescents, young adults, adults, couples, and families experiencing mild to moderate mental health and emotional challenges. She does not provide support for acute psychiatric conditions, active psychosis, significant substance dependence, severe eating disorders requiring medical care, or situations requiring urgent or intensive intervention. She also does not work with young children or provide court-mandated assessments or reports.

Each person's suitability for counselling is carefully considered during an initial consultation and reviewed throughout the counselling process. If a client's needs fall outside her area of practice or require more specialised support, Sucheta discusses this openly and honestly. With the client's consent, she can provide referrals, recommend appropriate services, share relevant contact information, or assist with introductions to other professionals. Her aim is to ensure that every client receives the most appropriate care and support for their individual needs, with a smooth and supportive transition whenever additional services are required.
